We are on our journey to affect change in our food system and have begun with these accomplishments.




  • held our first public meeting

  • began working on the Greenville-Spartanburg Food System Assessment and Plan funded by a USDA Local Food Promotion Program Grant with many partners


  • found structure for the Coalition at Partners for Active Living

  • provided a healthy month-long meal plan for JumpStart

  • began meeting regularly and expanded our membership


  • established a Work Group under Eat Smart Move More Spartanburg County

  • completed the Greenville-Spartanburg Food System Assessment and Plan

  • prioritized recommendations from the Food System Assessment and Plan and split out into five Work Groups to begin implementing recommendations: Getting Healthy Food to People in Need, Preserving Farmland, Farmer Training and Support, Getting to Equity in the Food System, and Cooking & Nutrition

  • distributed over 51,000 pounds of fresh produce to people in need, working with multiple Emergency Food Providers and FoodShare Spartanburg

  • made multiple food system recommendations for the City of Spartanburg Comprehensive Plan

  • supported a canned food drive for Total Ministries for PAL's Turkey Day 8k

  • supported the establishment of several new FoodShare Spartanburg partner sites


  • developed and piloted a virtual cooking series based on FoodShare Spartanburg boxes

  • trained 28 community members to teach our virtual cooking class series

  • supported Spartanburg County Administration in their creation of a Lactation Room
